After the Duda's return from a season of missionary itineration the LAC Commission on HIV/AIDS has been actively seeking to prepare workers for AIDS Prevention, Education and Ministry in the region. The Commission sent two teams of trainers to countries of the region during 2009.
El Salvador
Three seminars were conducted in El Salvador with the help of Dr. Lynn Diaz. Lynn and Victor are Assemblies of God missionaries in El Salvador and hosted the training team. The team consisted of Paul & Lana Duda, Cynthia Nicholson, Dr. Lynn Diaz, Paula Hansen and David Stanislaus.
Three seminars were held in different cities; San Miguel, Usulután and San Salvador. The seminars were well attended by National Pastors and leaders seeking to make a difference in the crisis of HIV/AIDS in the country.
Dr. Lynn Diaz coordinated all the seminar arrangements including housing, meals, venue for seminars and promotions. It takes a lot of work with hundreds of details to put together a seminar schedule like we had in El Salvador. We are grateful to Dr. Lynn and Victor and their entire national team that made it happen.
Cynthia Nicholson the wife of Regional Director Dick Nicholson spent the entire time with us. She is a trained counselor and handled the counseling portion of the seminars. We are grateful to Cynthia for taking the time out of her busy schedule to teach with us. Her presence was an appreciated validation and indicates the Nicholsons support of this ministry in the Latin America and Caribbean region.
Colombia
Two Seminars were held in October in the cities of Barranquilla and Armenia, Colombia. The non-profit foundation known as Hands Extended "Manos Extendidas" hosted the Commission training team in Colombia for two three-day Training of Trainers Seminars. If was wonderful to see how God brought together people uniquely positioned to make an impact on the AIDS crisis. Professional people as well as Pastors and Church workers were present for the training.
We are especially grateful to Mike and Aldona Roush veteran missionaries of 40 years in Colombia. The founders of "Hands Extended" they initiated the contact and invited us to come. Fernando Tangarife who serves as President of the foundation was our host for the seminars and did a spendid job of making all the arrangements. Hands extended is a non-profit foundation endeavoring to mobilize the Church to work in social issues affecting the country. Our special thanks to Fernando.
A special thank you to David and Margot Woodworth Assemblies of God missionaries of many years, who took such great care of our team while in their city of Armenia.

LAC Commission on HIV/AIDS seeks Country Reps
The Commission is looking for country representatives for every country of our region. If you are interested in coordinating efforts on the ground in your country, please contact us.
We need your help! We need missionaries willing to promote and set up training with the National Church. The GAP Module 1 (pictured right) is the basic component of the AIDS training and includes everything needed to begin a prevention and education ministry. With your help we can plan a Training of Trainers Seminar in your country to prepare people for work in this vital area.
